THE VUCE FUND

CARE NET GHANA has set up a VULNERABLE CHILDREN’S EDUCATION FUND (VUCE FUND) to support the education of trafficked and other marginalized children in six fishing communities in the Volta Region.

The children the fund will support are those who have been taken away (trafficked) from their villages or sold out or taken to other villages to work as fishing hands, sand wieners, domestic servitude, weavers and farm hands for meager income usually less than a one dollar a day and have been denied access to any form of education and health care.

The monies accruing from this fund will be used to provide scholarships, school uniforms, meals, text books, medical care and recreational materials for the children to enable them access basic education and also provide medical care through a mobile clinic services. A rehabilitation centre will be established to provide counseling and psycho-social support to the children. Where necessary, school buildings will be constructed in the target communities in addition to a mobile school.
